The Big Beauty Haul
Aléz Odendaal | Anyone au fait with Soho House might know that they have their very own skincare and body range, Cow Shed. Natural-based, largely vegan, cruelty-free, and made in the UK, the brand is ticks a lot of ethical boxes.
Luckily, you're not spending the rest of your life saving up for a weekend at Soho Farmhouse or trying to wrangle a visa, job, and Third Space gym membership (Cow Shed stock up all the changing rooms) just to get your hands on these cuties. You can now get them in South Africa from exclusive importers, Beautiful Age. Go figure.
I had the chance to meet the Beautiful Age team, and they are absolutely one to watch in the luxury beauty scene, with loads of exciting upcoming projects. On my vanity is the Knackered Cow candle, Knackered Cow shower scrub, Knackered Cow body oil (are we seeing a pattern?), Dirty Cow hand wash, and Cow Pat hand lotion. Thoroughly scrubbed, moisturised, and oiled-up, and only very mildly insulted.
These were all gifted by Cow Shed and Beautiful Age through my work at Beauty South Africa - thank you, guys! If you want to spoil yourself or someone else (even better!), but you don't know where to start, the vegan candle range is tip top and hot to trot.
The fun didn't stop 'cause just after the Cow Shed launch, Crabtree and Evelyn got in on the action and sat us down for a chat about their new ranges. Flying marks for fragrance, I walked away with a Lavender and Espresso Hand Therapy treatment (these are HUGE sell-outs), and a Pear and Pink Magnolia body wash. If you're too busy to make a handmade Mother's Day gift this year (ha!), or your mom is a big Crabtree & Evelyn fan, the room diffusers seem like a massive hit.
Second to last in the haul is a Limited Edition buy from locals, WASS. I did a review on them back in February last year - I'm a big fan of the scents. Fennel and Bergamot this time, damn. I couldn't resist.
I also ordered a bunch of DIY skincare goodies 'cause I'm tired of paying upwards of a grand for a decent face oil, and I'm playing around with some formulas ahead of skincare workshops planned for July. Keep them gorgeous eyes peeled! Right, now that I have Herbert Marcuse officially rolling in his grave, I'll see myself out. See below for ingredient information.
So, this is a cop-out, I know. But there are too many products featured in the post to allow for a full ingredient check. Check out Cow Shed, Crabtree, and Wass for information on individual items. As a measure of apology, I know that for a lot of these products the biggest (and sometimes only) perpetrator will be fragrance, which many of them contain.
